FO describes nuclear proliferation as Khan’s individual act
ISLAMABAD, Sept 16: A Foreign Office spokesman said on Sunday it had been clearly established after a thorough investigation carried out in 2003-04 regarding transfer of nuclear technology that the proliferation activity had been an individual act that did not carry authorisation of any Pakistani government at any stage.
He was replying to a question about a claim by scientist Dr A.Q. Khan that he had transferred the nuclear technology to foreign countries on the orders of the then prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
The spokesman said the so-called Dr A.Q. Khan affair was a closed chapter.
Pakistan had taken all necessary measures in support of nuclear non-proliferation and extended full cooperation to the international community, he added.—APP
