DADU: Jamal’s son on canvassing drive

DADU, Dec 23: The son of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, Mir Umer Khan Jamali, arrived here to request the chief of the Jamali tribe to convince his son to vote for his father on Dec 30.

Accompanied by other prominent personalities of the tribe, he visited the Autaq of the chief of the Jamali tribe, Sardar Haji Mohammad Bakhsh Jamali, besides calling on the district president of the PPP, MNA Rais Rafique Ahmed Jamali, who is the son of the Sardar.

Mir Umer Khan Jamali requested Haji Muhammad Bux Jamali to persuade his son, MNA Rafique Ahmed Jamali, to cast his vote for Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Dec 30, the day of vote of confidence in the National Assembly.

The MNA elected from Dadu, Rafique Ahmed Jamali, has refused to cast his vote in favour of the prime minister.

Rafique Ahmed Jamali, when contacted by this correspondent, confirmed that the son of the prime minister had approached him to cast his vote in favour of Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

Rafique Ahmed Jamali said that while his family had close relations with Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, he would follow the policy of the PPP chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, in this regard.

Sources later confirmed that the chief of the Jamali tribe had recently gone to the native village of the prime minister to condole the death of his nephew where the prime minister had requested the chieftain to help him out in obtaining the vote of confidence.

Meanwhile, when this correspondent contacted Sardar Mohammad Bakhsh Jamali on telephone, he said that he had not given any commitment to the prime minister in this regard.
