Minor dispute claims life

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14: A motorist shot dead a truck driver apparently over some dispute developed between them when they tried to overtake each other here on Tuesday, police said.

Miraj Khalid was bringing edible items from Lahore and got engaged in a race with a car, the police quoted the driver’s helper, Ahmed Zaib.

First the car overtook the truck before reaching Rawat, but shortly Khalid succeeded in crossing the car. As a result a race betweenthem started. When they entered Islamabad from Rawat Toll Plaza, the car driver signaled the victim to stop, but Khalid ignored it.

Later the car chased the truck and intercepted it at Kak Bridge. Three persons disembarked from the car and overpowered the helper. Later one of them fired two bullets in the temple of the driver which claimed his life. The car riders escaped from the scene.

Shortly after getting information the police reached the spot and shifted the body to the hospital. — Staff Reporter
