ACCOUNTABILITY: JI Amir Syed Munawar Hasan has called for the accountability of the black sheep in the media and strict action against those found involved in corruption.
In a statement issued here on Monday, he said some media persons had filed petitions in the Supreme Court demanding a judicial inquiry into the allegations leveled against them.
They demanded that they be awarded exemplary punishment if they were found guilty otherwise those leveling allegations against them be placed in the dock.
Mr Hasan said instead of treating all the media men on a par it would be better to hold a thorough probe and find out the corrupt.
He urged Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to set up a judicial commission to look into the allegations.
He said the apex court should also examine the working of PEMRA and check the dangerous trend of obscenity and immorality in TV channels.
