Armed dual national held

ISLAMABAD, July 20: A dual national of Pakistan and Belgium was caught when he tired to enter embassy of a European country along with knives and a dagger, police said on Friday.

The accused, Malik Asad, resident of Lahore was spotted with weapons by the security guards of Belgium embassy, located in Sector F-6/3 when he tried to enter its premises.

On suspicion, the security guards captured him and during his search recovered the weapons. The issue was also brought into the notice of the security incharge of the embassy and senior diplomats who called Kohsar police.

The police reached the spot and took the accused in their custody. During preliminary investigation, he disclosed having dual nationality and claimed that he came over to the embassy to seek financial assistance.

However, he failed to satisfy the police query about why he carried weapons with him.

He was shifted to police station and booked under Arms Ordinance Act and was later produced in the court of area magistrate from where he was given in police custody on judicial remand and sent to Adiala Jail. — Munawer Azeem
