Hajano’s bail pleas dismissed

KARACHI, July 18: A sessions court dismissed on Wednesday bail applications of an accused in five robbery cases.

Mohammad Ali Hajano — allegedly notorious for targeting Defence and its surrounding areas in a white Corolla car and committing robberies and other offences — through his counsel moved the bail applications in the court in five robbery cases, two each registered at the Darakshan and the Gizri and one at the Clifton police stations.

The judge, Javed Ahmed Keerio, who is conducting the trial inside the judicial complex (central prison), dismissed the bail applications after hearing arguments from both sides.

The police arrested Hajano and Umair Khan in January 2009 and they were charge-sheeted in over 30 cases, including, robbery/dacoity, attempted murder, attempt to outrage the modesty of women, street crime and in a murder case at the Darakshan, Clifton, Defence, Boat Basin and Gizri police stations.

However, the suspects have so far been acquitted in seven cases since the witnesses failed to depose against them and identify them before the trial court.
