LHC directs doctors to immediately resume work in emergency wards

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday directed doctors associated with the Young Doctors Association (YDA) to immediately resume work in emergency wards in hospitals, DawnNews reported.

Earlier today, the court expressed displeasure over the strike being held by the YDA and issued summons for its leadership.

At the beginning of the hearing in the case against the doctors’ strike, the court told YDA representatives that continuing the strike despite the Supreme Court’s directives was a violation of the apex court’s order.

The LHC moreover said that the patients could not be abandoned to the mercy of striking doctors.

During the hearing, the petitioner informed the court that doctors had received degrees from countries whose certifications had no value in Pakistan.

The petitioner moreover requested the court to issue directives for the verification of the doctors’ degrees.
