49 policemen killed this year, IGP told

KARACHI, July 2: Forty-nine personnel and officers of the Sindh police have lost their lives during the first six months of the current year, says a report presented to Inspector-General of Sindh Police Mushtaq Shah at a meeting on Monday.

It said that 14 policemen died in the line of duty in Karachi-East, nine each in Karachi West and South districts, two in Central and four lost their lives in Malir district.

Six personnel of the Crime Investigation Department and two each of the Special Branch and the traffic police also lost their lives.

It said that 107 policemen had sustained injuries in the city during the six-month period.

The IGP asked officials concerned to ensure timely compensation to the bereaved families, besides giving a police job to one member of each bereaved family. —PPI
