Husband stabs wife to death

CHAKWAL, June 28: A man stabbed his wife to death when he allegedly found her in objectionable position with her paramour here on Thursday.

Later, he surrendered to the Cty Police and confessed to committing the crime. According to sources, the couple had entered the wedlock some 10 years back and few years of marriage their relations had gone sour.

The accused alleged that his wife had developed extra marital relations with a man and said on Thursday when he came to his home he caught the couple red-handed, Investigation Officer at City Police Station Tariq Mehmood quoted the accused as saying. — Correspondent

Man dies accidentally

ISLAMABAD, June 28: An auto-mechanic was accidentally killed when a tractor – he was repairing – fell on him in capital’s rural area on Thursday.

Mohammad Jan 39 had come over to Dhoke Mori in Bhara Kahu to repair a tractor. He lifted the tractor using vehicle-jack to lay down under it. Unfortunately, the jack slipped and the tractor fell on him. As a result, he received injuries around his chest and was shifted to hospital where he was pronounced dead. — Staff Reporter

Poisonous food claims life

ATTOCK, June 28: An old man died while his three other family members fell seriously ill presumably after eating poisonous food in the limits of Attock Sadder police station.

Police said the condition of 75-year-old man, his daughter-in-law, grandson and granddaughter deteriorated soon after taking meal at the house in Mongiwali village on Wednesday night.

Later on, they fell unconscious and were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters hospital Attock by Rescue 1122.

However, the old man   could not survive while the other family members were still under treatment. — Correspondent

Robbers gang busted

TAXILA, June 28: The Wah Saddar police on Thursday claimed to have busted a six-member gang involved in biggest ever heist in which it looted jewelry worth Rs20 million in January 2011 and arrested its four members including the ring leader.

Superintendent of Police Potohar division Syed Haseeb Shah at a press conference said Wah Saddar police said most of the accused, the ring leader identified as Gull Agha, Nisar Gull, Rahem Gull and Mohammed Ijaz, were Afghan national that was why they were called Afghani group.

He said two members of the gang, Shahfeequr Rehman and Attique Khan, were still at large and were hiding in Jallalabad, Afghanistan. — Correspondent
