Same characters, different channels

It is understandable that actors these days have to make money, perhaps more than ever, because they have to keep the fire in their kitchens burning. However, it saddens when gifted actors waste their talent by agreeing to be stereotyped just because one of their characters became a ‘hit’.

Take for example actor Nabeel. Ever since his role in the sitcom Bulbulay (which has now stretched like the proverbial shaitan ki aant) was accepted by the viewers, he seems to be willing to do the funny husband’s part in other sitcoms. He can now be seen in a couple of more such plays on different channels, more or less looking (if not sounding) the same. Nabeel has proven credentials, and he should realise that.

The other example in that regard is the lead couple of the drama serial Hamsafar. Both Mahira and Fawad appear to have developed their clones and are performing almost similar-looking roles in the post-Hamsafar phase. Not just that, even the director of that play Sarmad Sultan Khoosat is willing to churn out more soppy tales for that’s the mantra of success. Guys, it’s versatility that helps actors grow to become accomplished artistes, and not just successful individuals.
