Hashish seized, two held in Lakki
LAKKI MARWAT, June 14: Police foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of hashish and arrested two alleged smugglers here on Thursday.
District Police Officer Umar Riaz told a news conference at Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police station that they had got information about a possible attempt of narcotics smuggling. A police party was directed to check suspicious vehicles to foil the bid, he said.
The DPO said that law enforcers stopped a truck near Wanda Banochi checkpost on Bannu-Dera Road and recovered 600 kilograms of hashish from it.
The hashish was being transported to Quetta from Darra Adamkhel, he said. He said that police arrested two persons and impounded the truck. A case was registered against them.
The arrested persons were identified as Abdul Rashid, a resident of Loralai in Balochistan, and Shah Alam, a resident of Matora village of Lakki Marwat.
Mr Riaz said that the arrested persons were members of an inter-provincial gang of smugglers. He announced commendation certificates and cash rewards for the policemen, who seized the hashish and arrested the alleged smugglers.
CAMP: The Al-Khidmat Foundation arranged a blood donation camp at Kargil Chowk here on Thursday to mark the World Blood Donor Day.
People from different walks of life visited the camp and donated blood.
The president of the foundation, Abdul Ghaffar Faryadi, secretary general Liaqat Ali Sayyam, Jamaat-i-Islami district chief Maulana Malik Meer Shah, Sabz Ali Khan Naveed, president of press club Hafiz Minhajud Din and Dr Khan Badshah were also present on the occasion.
Mohammad Jibran Sanan, media coordinator of the foundation, told journalists that the camp was set up to create awareness among people about blood donation.
