Police asked to produce Iraqi doctor in court

QUETTA, Dec 12: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Maghani has ordered the police to produce an Iraqi-born doctor, Shaukat Nafey Hikmat, before the court on Dec 16, who was taken away from his residence by some people two months back.

The court on Thursday issued notices to Deputy Inspector General of Police and senior superintendent of police, Quetta, deputy attorney general, deputy director ISI, and advocate general Balochistan.

The court issued notices after hearing the application filed by Mrs Ahlam, wife of Dr Shaukat, in the Balochistan High Court.

In her application she said that on Oct 16 last, 13 persons, including three Americans and nine Pakistanis, broke into her house late in the night and took away her husband with them.

She in her application said that she had received information from different sources that her husband was in the custody of ISI. She prayed to the court for recovery of her husband.

A division bench of the Balochistan High Court on Thursday also took suo motu notice of a press report about the kidnapping of Mohammed Ali, Judicial Magistrate of Dera Allah Yar.

The court in this connection issued notices to Chief Secretary Balochistan, Secretary Home, Inspector General of Police, concerned SSPs, district and town Nazimeen of the area, Director General Levies and district coordination officer of Nasirabad district to appear before the court on Dec 16.
