Extortionists jailed

KARACHI, May 30: An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Wednesday two extortionists to five years in prison.

The court found Mohammad Asif and Yad Ali guilty of extorting money from a dairy farmer within the remit of the Steel Town police station in December 2011.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 each and in case of default the convicts would undergo an additional six-month imprisonment.

Another three years term was also awarded to both the convicts in illicit weapons cases and the court imposed a fine of Rs5,000 each.

The convicts would undergo another three-month imprisonment if the fine was not paid.
