Pickpocket, thief held at station

LAHORE, May 24: A man was caught stealing goods and material from Lahore railway station while a pickpocket was also arrested from platform No 4 on Thursday.

Nauman was caught by Head Constable Hamid Mukhtar when he was taking a fan, six electric chokes and three kilogrammes of copper wire after removing them from a wagon stationed in the yard.

A man had come to platform No 4 to board a train. In the meantime, a pickpocket removed Rs800 from his pocket and ran away. On suspicion, the man chased and caught the suspect who was later identified as Ejaz.

The suspect was handed over to Lahore railway police who recovered the amount from him and returned to the complainant after fulfilling legal formalities.

Meanwhile, PR police Inspector-General Syed Ibne Husain directed the Lahore SSP to award commendation certificates to Head Constable Hamid Mukhtar for foiling the theft bid at railway yard.
