Motorbike snatchers gang busted

KARACHI, May 18: The Anti-Car Lifting Cell on Friday claimed to have busted a gang involved in motorcycle theft and seized 18 dismantled motorbikes from them.

Speaking at a press conference, SSP Javed Akbar Riaz said that acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in Rais Goth in Mochko where members of the notorious Waris Jhulay Lal gang were packing dismantled parts of stolen and snatched bikes.

He said the police arrested gang leader Waris and his three associates, Shakir Ali, Bashir Ali and Amanullah. The police also seized 18 dismantled motorcycles found during the raid The SSP said that the gang used to transport dismantled motorcycles parts to Balochistan and dispose them off in different cities there.

All the four suspects hailed from Turbat, Balochistan, according to the police.

Of the 18 motorbikes, six had been stolen or snatched within the remit of the Kharadar police station alone. Four were reported taken away from the areas within the remit of the Awami Colony and the Napier police stations. Similarly, one motorcycle each was stolen or snatched at gunpoint within the jurisdiction of the Jackson, Mithadar, Memon Goth, Arambagh, Korangi, Jamshed Quarters police stations.—Staff Reporter
