‘Militant’ held in Swat

MINGORA, May 3: The Swat police arrested an alleged militant along with his friend during an operation in the Odigram area here on Thursday.

Sources said that the alleged militant, Qari Atiq, was wanted to the police for making provocative speeches and burning of TV sets and CDs.

The sources said that the police raided a hideout in the Odigram area and arrested Qari Atiq. His friend Kamal was also taken into custody after he tried to resist the police action against Atiq.

The police also arrested five suspects during a raid in the Rahimabad area. They were produced in a local court and were later released. — Correspondent
