Villagers foil bid to kidnap girl

SUKKUR, April 30: Family members of a girl with the help of villagers foiled an attempt by armed men to kidnap the young girl in Aeen Pat village near Khanpur Mahar town early on Monday morning.

Four armed men barged into the house of one Jhangal Soomro and snatched away his young daughter Khanzadi Soomro.

The family members ran after the kidnappers while raising alarm. Soon they were joined by other villagers and the kidnappers were forced to leave the girl to flee.

An FIR was lodged at Khanpur Mahar police station by Khanzadi Soomro, daughter of Jhangal Soomro, against Sachal Mahar, Rab Nawaz Mahar, Allah Bux Mahar and Bachal Mahar.

Police have failed to arrest the accused.

The Human Rights Forum chairman Shah Nawaz Waseer announced extending free legal aid to the girl.

On the other hand, secretary of the forum Imtiaz Kolachi said at a press conference at the press club that those who had tried to kidnap the girl were influential persons and they had, thereby, scared the family to force it withdraw a case lodged against them.

He demanded that the DIG of Sukkur range and the SSP of Ghotki order arrest of the culprits involved in the attempt to kidnap the girl.
