Two TTP men get life in kidnap case

KARACHI, April 28: Two activists of the banned Teherik Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were on Saturday sentenced to life by an anti-terrorism court in a kidnapping for ransom case.

The ATC-1 also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 each on Qari Aminullah and Fazal Raheem, who were found guilty of having kidnapped a man within the remit of the Sohrab Goth police station and demanding a ransom of Rs2 million for his release on Nov 17, 2009.

The convicts, who were arrested on Nov 25, 2009 with the recovery of the victim, Mohammadi Gul, would have to suffer an additional six-month imprisonment in case they default on the payment of fine.

The prosecution, represented by Special Public Prosecutor Abdul Maroof, examined in all 11 prosecution witnesses in the case.
