Sorry state of health affairs

I WANT to share with readers an incident about the sorry state of health affairs in the private sector. A person bleeding profusely due to a road accident was brought to a private hospital’s emergency.

However, the hospital staff flatly refused to treat him as long as the family did not deposit a hefty fee of Rs45,000.

It was a daunting task to make arrangement for such a big amount and as such it was callous on the part of the hospital to ask for the deposit while the patient was bleeding profusely.

By the time the family arranged the funds the person had lost so much blood that he was paralysed and went into a coma with his life hanging by a thread.

The attitude of the hospital administration was deplorable.

This matter must surely be looked into and legislation be made as soon as possible to alleviate the sufferings of such victims.
