DCO suspends clerk for verifying fake licences

LAHORE, April 23: District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal suspended from service a clerk of his office’s arms branch on charges of verifying fake licences.

The DCO took the action after a preliminary report held clerk Sohail Aslam guilty. Mengal also ordered holding of a regular inquiry against the official and appointed an inquiry officer.

According to officials, Aslam used to verify fake arms licences by receiving bribe from those involved in preparing fake licences.

The DCO also directed to trace other gang members (if any).

SURVEY: A survey to identify industrial units in residential areas is going on and teams formed by the DCO have so far identified 339 factories/industrial units in the weeklong proceedings.

According to a press release issued here on Monday, the teams identified 33 more industrial units in various towns of the city during last 24 hours. Five of them were located in Ravi Town, seven each in Data Ganj Bakhsh and Shalimar, four each in Samanabad and Gulberg and three each in Allama Iqbal and Wagah towns.

CHALLANED: Price control magistrates have checked 507 shops during last 72 hours and challaned 108 shops besides lodging 21 cases and imposing a fine to the tune of Rs77,000 on those shopkeepers who were caught violating prices lists.

According to a handout, food inspectors checked food samples of 517 hotels, marriage halls, sweets, bakers and other shops in the city and imposed fine of Rs86,000 on shopkeepers for selling unhygienic food.

Meanwhile, drug inspectors checked 26 medical stores and sealed three of them for selling expired drugs, the handout added.
