ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has remarked that the Punjab government was not implementing verdicts of the Supreme Court.Heading a three-Judge bench on an application of Aneeta Turab, a federal government official seeking protection for civil servants, the bench also summoned details of all such officers who had been made OSD in Punjab.
During course of proceedings, the Chief Justice told additional advocate general Punjab Jawad Hassan that in his province, a BPS-18 officer had been serving as deputy commissioner and questioned what they had done with the Regional Police Officer Lahore against whom adverse findings in Gojra incident were given by a judicial inquiry team.
βIt is the conduct of the provincial government. It has a different approach to our orders,β he observed.
He hinted that the court could also consider appointing a commission under the chairman Federal Public Service Commission over the issue or could give any verdict.
The bench was apprised that under the court's observation, a committee comprising all chief secretaries had been constituted by the Secretary, Establishment Division which was deliberating the issue.
The bench directed the committee to finalize their recommendations and submit a report and also sought replies from all the chief secretaries and applicants within a week.
