Man found shot dead near Hub dam road

KARACHI, April 5: A young man was found shot dead near the Hub dam road on Thursday, police said.

The area police said that they believed that 35-year-old Qasim Rahman might have been killed over personal enmity.

“The body was later taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the victim was finally identified by his family members,” said Inspector Ghulam Rasool Rajpar, the SHO of the Manghopir police station.

“The family members of the victim are tight-lipped about any threat to their loved one. But we have assessed and acquired some information through our sources which suggests that there is a dispute within the family that may have led to the killing.”

He said that the victim was a resident of Sultanabad Sector 3 and left home early in the morning to meet a relative. His cell phone was found switched off by the family who later approached the police and finally recognised his body at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

“We are waiting for the family’s response before registering an FIR. Otherwise we will be compelled to register a case on behalf of the state,” said the Manghopir police station SHO.

In a separate incident, the Sharifabad police found the bullet-riddled body of a young rag-picker on Thursday.

The officials said that the victim in his mid 20s, who remained unidentified, suffered three bullet wounds each in the chest, head and neck. “The body was found in Tyre Market, a commercial area near Gharibabad,” said the SHO of the Sharifabad police station Inspector Mohammed Nadeem.

“The victim appeared to be an Afghan national and rag-picker. His body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for want of identification after medico-legal formalities at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.”
