Body of honour killing victim recovered

TAXILA, March 26: Taxila police on Monday recovered the dead body of a 17-year-old girl from a well who was allegedly killed by her uncle about 2 months ago over honour.

Police sources said Ammara Bibi went missing when she left her house for her grandparents in village Bun Bhola in limits of Taxila police station on January 29. Failing to find any clue, her father Mohammad Younas registered a case against unknown abductors.

Later, on suspicion, police picked Abdul Rehman – uncle of the girl – who confessed to have shot the girl dead and thrown her body in a well of the village to conceal the crime.

Police quoted the accused and said he had doubts over the character of the deceased and killed her to save the honour of his family.

Police sources said that on identification of the accused, the body was retrieved from the well and shifted to Tehsil Headquarters hospital for autopsy. Later, it was handed over to the family for burial.— Correspondent
