Young man shot dead in land dispute

KARACHI, March 25: A young man was gunned down over a land dispute in Saadi Town within the remit of the Sachal police station, officials said.

Farhan Ali, 25, with his brother, Furqan Ali, and their father, Syed Israr Ali Shah, went to a plot in Saadi Town, where they had an altercation with some men said to be agents of the land mafia, the police said.

SHO Azhar Iqbal quoted the victim’s father as saying that Arif, Ali Abidi, Naeem, Sajid and others started beating his sons after an exchange of words with them. Meanwhile, one of them pulled out a pistol and fired at Farhan. He sustain gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital, where he died, said the Sachal SHO.The body was later shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities and handed over to his family, the police said.

The SHO said the victim, a resident of Block 9, Architect Society, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, was in real estate business.

Initial investigations showed that the killing was the result of a land dispute.

Police registered an FIR (222/2012) under Sections 302 and 34 (common intention) of the PPC against Arif, Ali Abidi, Naeem, Sajid and a few unidentified persons on a complaint of the victim’s father.
