Medical graduates seek jobs

TIMERGARA, March 24: Foreign educated medical graduates have demanded of the government to appoint them on the vacant posts of medical officers on ad hoc basis.

In a statement issued here on Saturday medical graduates said due to government’s failure to fill hundreds of posts of medical officers lying vacant throughout the province especially in far flung areas the number of qualified graduates was increasing.

They said appointments done through Public Service Commission took a long time, due to which the medical graduates were getting overage. They warned to launch a protest campaign if the government failed to meet their demand.—Correspondent

Robbers’ gang busted

NOWSHERA, March 24:  The police on Saturday arrested a gang of bandits and recovered gold worth Rs2.2 million from them in Azakhel area.

DPO Nowshera Mohammad Hussain told a press conference that the bandits were also wanted in burglary and other crimes. He said the police also recovered other stolen items, arms and mobile phones from them.

Haji Faisal Baber of Pir Payee informed the Azakhel police seven dacoits entered his house on Friday night and held the family members at gunpoint. He said the dacoits collected gold worth Rs2.2 million and other valuable items and escaped. The bandits were identified as Wahab, Sartaj, Hamid Sher, Ulfat, Idrees and Safdar.—Correspondent

Service structure

KARAK, March 24: The paramedical association has demanded implementation of the service structure devised by the previous MMA government.

The association’s Karak chapter general secretary Imtiaz Arshi while speaking at a meeting on Saturday also demanded promotion of the paramedics from BPS-9 to BPS-12.

He said a residential colony and school should be constructed near the district headquarters hospital to provide accommodation and education facility to the children of paramedics near their duty station. —Correspondent

Anti-encroachment drive

LAKKI MARWAT, March 24: The Lakki TMA on Saturday demolished illegal structures raised on both sides of the Indus Highway and on the military land in Darra Pezu town.

TMO Abdul Wahid Khattak, tehsil officer regulation Sabz Ali Khan, assistant tehsil officer Qudratullah Khan and chief officer Kifayatullah Khan along with a contingent of Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police supervised the anti-encroachment operation. TMO Abdul Wahid Khattak, when contacted, told this correspondent that the municipal administration would also launch operation against illegal encroachments in other areas. —Correspondent
