Man killed on road

TAXILA, March 22: A man was killed while his son received injuries when a van knocked them down on Taxila- Hattar road near on Thursday.

Police sources said Abdul Hameed 44, was going along with his son Shahid Hameed on his motorcycle when a passenger wagon, recklessly driven by an unidentified driver, knocked both of them down.

As a result, Abdul Hameed died at the spot while Shahid received minor injuries. Taxila police registered a case against the driver and started investigation.— Correspondent

Taxi driver murdered

ATTOCK, March 22:  A taxi driver was killed after snatching his vehicles by unknown culprits near Moorat village of New Airport police station on Thursday. Police said some unknown persons hired the taxi of Mohammad Ilyas from Rawalpindi. Later, they killed the driver after snatching his taxi and threw his body near Moorat village. On information, the police reached the scene and shifted the body to THQ hospital and later handed it over to the relatives after autopsy. —Correspondent

Couple remanded

ISLAMABAD, March 22: The city court on Thursday sent a lady doctor to Adiala Jail on judicial remand for her alleged involvement in selling new-born babies and conducting abortions, police said on Thursday.

Dr Aisha Irshad was produced in the court of judicial magistrate, Kashif Qayyum, for seeking remand. The magistrate after hearing the investigators sent the accused to Adiala Jail on 14-day judicial remand. The police will interrogate her in the jail to investigate the allegation leveled against her.

She along with her husband Dr Mohammad Irshad was running Niaz Medical Centre and Maternity Home near Bhera Bridge in Bhara Kahu. Dr Irshad was already given in police custody on three-day physical remand.— Staff Reporter

Eunuch looted

CHAKWAL, March 22: The burglars struck at the house of a transvestite, looting cash and other valuables, police said on Thursday.

According to Sahiba, she woke up on Thursday morning to find that Rs175, 000 and four mobile phones were missing from her house. Police have started efforts to trace the burglars after registering a case. — Correspondent
