Case against Balochistan CM`s sons cancelled

KARACHI: A sessions court was on Thursday informed that a case registered against two sons of Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani for rioting and beating up some policemen had been cancelled.

Yadgar Raisani and Rais Raisani had obtained an interim pre-arrest bail on March 10 against a surety bond of Rs50,000 each in the case and the court had directed them to appear on March 22 for the confirmation or otherwise of the bail.

When the matter came up for hearing before Additional District and Sessions Judge (south) Abdul Razzaq on Thursday, the defence counsel informed the court that the police had submitted a 'C' (cancel) class report of the case on Wednesday and the magistrate concerned had also approved it.

The lawyer submitted a plea for the withdrawal of the bail applications and requested the court to discharge the surety. The plea was allowed.

The suspects were booked along with their 15-20 fellows on March 2. The police said the suspects, drunk and armed with weapons, stopped several passing cars at an intersection on Khayaban-i-Shaheen, DHA, pulled out and thrashed male occupants of the vehicles.

They added that some policemen intervened but they received the same treatment at the hands of the suspects, who also snatched the policemen's weapons.

A case (FIR No 86/2012) was registered under Sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 149 (common object), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 337/A (punishment for shajjah) and 34 (common intention) of the PPC at Darakhshan police station.
