Malir river bed as forest

THE government has finally taken action against vegetables being grown using contaminated water in the Malir river bed. Uprooting the vegetation is not only cumbersome but also expensive.

Moreover the growers will come back and re-cultivate them once things mellow down.

If we plant trees like conocorpus and neem, the possibility of replanting vegetables will die its natural death.

Our former nazim Naimatullah Khan had planned to convert this 36 kilometre-long Malir river bed into a park. How about converting this into a man-made forest. Mustafa Kamal had shown that this task is not difficult.
