Hammad not being utilised properly: Sarfraz

ISLAMABAD: Former Test pace bowler Sarfraz Nawaz on Tuesday lashed out at the Pakistan cricket team management for not utilising young and talented all-rounder Hammad Azam in the ongoing Asia Cup properly.

Sarfraz reckoned some players in the team feared  Hammad’s talent and thought he might excel and could threaten their places in the team, adding that is why he hadn’t been used properly.

Commenting about the Asia Cup final to be played on Thursday, Sarfraz said: “We need to improve our fielding and should go into the final with good planning in order to win.

“We should avoid giving extras as that was also a reason for us getting short of runs in the match against India,” Sarfraz noted.

Sarfraz also criticised the selection of the playing eleven in the Pakistan-India match, saying that a winning combination had not been chosen for the crunch game against the arch-rivals and selection was made on the basis of personal likes and dislikes.

“Wahab Riaz shouldn’t have been included in the team [against India] as he has been out of form. The winning combination should have been played in the match against India,” Sarfraz said.—APP
