TIMERGARA, March 17:  Installation of high power transformer at the Saddo Timergara grid station would solve problem of low voltage and electricity overload in the district.

This was said by the District Coordination Officer Mahmood Aslam Wazir while talking to a group of journalists here on Saturday. He said a new 26/20 megawatt transformer had reached the grid station and soon be installed.

The high power transformer was approved by the government two years ago but it could not be transported to Timergara due to collapse of the Chakdara Bridge by flash floods last year.

The DCO said that General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major-Gen Ghulam Qamar, Commandant Dir Scouts Col Kamran and Commissioner Malakand region Dr Fakhar-i-Alam took special interest in transportation of the transformer which was moved to Timergara on Saturday via Shamozo-Swat road.

The DCO said the transformer weighed 90 tonnes and the temporary bridge at Chakdara was not feasible for it. He said, without the cooperation of armed forces the problem could not be solved.

He thanked the GOC and commissioner Malakand for their personal efforts to resolve the matter before the start of summer season.

Meanwhile, provincial Minister for Technical Education Mahmood Zeb Khan also expressed happiness on reaching of the transformer to the area.

Talking to local journalists the minister said it had been a longstanding demand of the people. He said the installation of this transformer would benefit people of Samar Bagh, Maidan and Timergara.

TRAINING: A two-day training workshop for journalists of the Timergara Press Club was concluded on Saturday.

The IT training arranged by the Inter News was attended by all working journalists where they were provided with basic knowledge of computer, its use in journalistic assignment and different programmes of computer.

Murad Ali and Adil Khan of the Inter News imparted the training while Mr Aftab performed as training coordinator. The participants showed keen interest and demanded of the project authorities to conduct advance computer trainings for working journalists in the area.
