Militants kill 3 tribesmen in Tirah

LANDI KOTAL, March 13: Four persons including a militant commander were killed and five people were injured in separate incidents in Khyber Agency on Tuesday.

Sources said that three Kukikhel tribesmen were killed in Tirah valley when they tried to stop militants from entering Speena Khawra area. The area is mostly inhabited by Kukikhel tribesmen.

A jirga of Kukikhel tribe has recently restricted entry of militants into their area and warned to fine and demolish the houses of those people, who were patronising and harbouring militants on its soil.

Meanwhile, security forces in Sipah area of Bara claimed to have killed an important commander of Lashkar-i-Islam during a search operation. A hideout of Lashkar-i-Islam was also destroyed during the operation.

Also, five members of a family including three women and two children were injured when a mortar shell fell on the house of Lal Zar on Gandao Road in Sipah area of the tribal region. — Correspondent
