Midhiana surrenders himself in teacher’s torture case

LAHORE: Former PPP MPA Aslam Midhiana, who was nominated in a torture case of 60-year-old teacher Nafees Khan Lodhi, surrendered himself to police on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to DawnNews, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Wasim Afzal said that Midhiana has voluntarily surrendered himself to the police from his house.

Police inspector Saqlain Shah, who arrested the suspect, said that Midhiana has been kept in Chohang Police station and will be moved to Midh Ranjha area of Sargodha later.

Lodhi had alleged that he was tortured by the former PPP MPA and his men at a bazaar in Sargodha.

The DPO, who heard the case, was transferred to Gilgit-Baltistan on March 8 and the PML-N led Punjab government had also formally requested Islamabad to cancel his transfer.

Midhiana, who initially secured pre-arrest bail but failed to get it confirmed from an ATC judge, escaped from the court’s proceedings earlier today.
