Tailor shot dead in shop

KARACHI, March 11: A young tailor was shot dead at point-blank range at his shop in Soldier Bazaar No 2 on Sunday, police said.

They added that two men walked up to the shop of 23-year-old Jehangir Alam, had a conversation with him and fired at him before fleeing on foot.

“The armed men had earlier requested the tailor to bring them a glass of water and when he returned, they talked with him for a while,” said Soldier Bazaar SHO Khushnud Javed.

He said the attackers might have parked their vehicle in the vicinity before carrying out the murder as apparently they hadmade off on foot.

The SHO suspected personal enmity as a probable motive behind the killing.

Later, the victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

He was a resident of the same area where the incident took place, the police said, adding that a murder case had yet to belodged.

Young man killed

On Sunday night, a 35-year-old man was killed apparently in a tribal feud, police said.

Mir Ahsan was passing through the Bakra Peeri area on a motorbike when he was gunned down, said an official at the Saeedabad police station.

The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi where he died during treatment.

Blaming the killing on a tribal feud, Saeedabad SHO Asadullah Mangi said that Mir Ahsan was murdered in retaliation as a man belonging from his rival tribe had been murdered in Larkana a few days back.

“We expect that the complainant would nominate someone in the FIR,” the SHO remarked.

Head found

The head of a dismembered body of a woman was found on Sunday on a vacant plot close to a garbage dump in the Garden East area where a day earlier her torso had been spotted, police said.

Still some parts of the dismembered body were missing, said a duty officer at the Soldier Bazaar police station.

Her torso was spotted by some boys scavenging through a garbage dump near a fish market. Subsequently, police were informed about it. The police shifted it to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

While a police search was on, the head of the woman was found on a nearby vacant plot on Sunday, said SHO Javed. “Her face is clean and identifiable,” he said, adding that it seems the body had been cut with a very sharp edge weapon.

Following the legal formalities, the woman’s remains were shifted to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

Gulshan Division SP Salam Shaikh said that a message about the remains had been communicated to all police stations to find out if anyone had lodged a complaint about a missing woman in the city.

Bodies of teenagers identified

Two teenagers, who had been found shot dead in different parts of the city on Saturday evening, were identified on Sunday nightby their families, police said.

Sixteen-year-old Nadir Ayub and Faheem Naeem, both residents of Haryana Colony, Orangi Town, dealt in spare parts in the Shershah scrap market, said SSP West Haseeb Baig.

Quoting the officials at the Edhi morgue, Orangi Town DSP Tariq Malik said the bodies of Nadir and Faheem had been found within the remit of the Eidgah and Soldier police stations, respectively.

It seemed the victims had been kidnapped on their way back home, said SSP Baig. He quoted their families as saying that their phones were off as they kept calling them when they did not return home till late night.

They didn’t report the matter to the area police station and started looking for them on their own. Finally, they found their bodies at the Edhi morgue on Sunday night.

The motive behind the killing was not yet clear, the police said.
