Snowfall in Murree, rare in March

MURREE, March 9: In what it can be termed a rare phenomenon that the hilly resort and adjoining areas received snowfall, though very light, in March when the plain areas are poised to brave the summer season.

Thursday evening snowfall delighted the tourists but caused problems for the locals because the educational institutions had opened and it was difficult for the children to reach the schools in severe cold.

Moreover, low gas pressure is a constant problem which the residents of the tourist resort have been facing throughout the winter season amid heavy snowfalls and severe cold.

Gas facility was provided to the city in 2009 but 85 per cent population in rural areas has not been provided the facility so far.
