KARACHI, March 2: Twenty people, including two sons of Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani, were booked for rioting and beating up a couple of policemen on Khayaban-i-Shaheen in DHA Phase V in the early hours of Friday.

Yadgar Raisani, Mir Hasan Raisani and a dozen other men were nominated in the FIR (86/2012) registered at the Darakhshan police station on behalf of the state.

Fifteen to 20 drunken men, armed with weapons, arrived in a silver Surf (LEC 88002), a red car and a white car at an intersection near the bungalow of the national assembly speaker at around 3am, according to a statement incorporated in theFIR.

The armed men, wearing shalwar kameez and trousers and shirts, stopped passing cars, dragged male motorists out and started thrashing them when ASI Ghulam Hussain along with Head Constable Liaquat Ali, who were posted at the bungalow of Dr Fehmida Mirza, marched towards them in an attempt to stop them, the FIR stated. As the policemen approached them, one of them clad in a T-shirt and shorts and sporting a light beard identified himself as a son of the Balochistan CM. His accomplices were calling him Yadgar Raisani. Another tall man wearing jeans and shirt was being addressed as Mir Hasan. Suddenly, two gunmen posing as police guards along with a man clad in white shalwar kameez with long hair and a trimmed beard attacked the  ASI and head constable and snatched their weapons.

Both the policemen suffered internal and external injuries in the beating.

Meanwhile, ASI Khadim Husain along with other policemen arrived in a police van, Mobile 5, at the crime-scene, but the armed men escaped throwing away the official weapons of the policemen, stated the FIR.

SP Clifton Division Tariq Dharejo said that before the incident, the armed men had dinner at an eatery in Khadda Market and also fired into the air there.

The FIR (86/2012) was registered under Sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 353 (assault or criminalforce to deter public servant from discharging his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 337/A (punishment for shajjah) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
