Woman killed, daughter injured by gunmen

LAHORE, Feb 27: A 45-year-old woman was killed and her 22-year-old daughter was injured after unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on them on Jail Road near Kinnard Collage on Monday night.

Racecourse police said Nabeela of Cantonment and Habiba were about to sit in their car parked along the road when the suspects approached them and escaped after injuring them. The victims had visited a private hospital situated on Jail Road moments before the shooting.

The injured were rushed to Services Hospital where Nabeela succumbed to her wounds.

Police found Rs52,000 and some jewellery in Nabeela’s purse.

Police suspected the shooting might be the outcome of some domestic or personal enmity and said they were waiting for the injured victim to record her statement. The body was shifted for autopsy.

FOUND MURDERED: A college student was found slain along Bund Road in Islampura on Monday.

Police found the body of Ahtisham of Akram Park in a ground near his residential locality.

Abdul Ghafoor told the police that his son left home for some work and later they were told about his body.

Police said unidentified suspect(s) slit the victim’s throat open with a sharp-edged weapon.

Rs4m robbery: Robbers looted cash and gold worth Rs4 million from a jewellery shop in Harbanspura police limits on Monday.

Three robbers barged in Burraq Jewellers, looted cash and 800 grams of gold and fled. In another incident, two robbers stopped Rana Saeed in Main Bazaar in Islampura police limits and deprived him of Rs50,000 and prize bonds worth Rs3.7 million. Saeed was returning home after purchasing bonds from the State Bank of Pakistan.

In Gulberg police limit, two robbers snatched cash and jewellery from a women, Tahira, leaving her injured with a gunshot wound.

Tahira was targeted by robbers while she was sitting in a car in front of a NADRA office.

Two robbers looted Rs12,000 and snatched a cell phone from Yaqoob and injured him with a gunshot in Khana police limits.FIRE: Valuables were reduced to ashes in two fire incidents in the city on Monday.

Rescue 1122 fire-fighters brought the blaze under control after hectic efforts.

In the first incident, the fire broke out in Orient Pvt Ltd (Electronics) near Mohlanwal on Multan Road, burning down valuables.

In the second incident, the blaze erupted in the house of Mufti Kazim in Samanabad due to a short circuit, gutting valuables worth Rs200,000.
