Bodies of three slain men recovered

LARKANA, Feb 21: Police took custody on Tuesday of the bodies of three men who were shot dead in mysterious circumstances in the kutcha area of Keti Mumtaz along the left bank of Indus.

A police contingent from Larkana took the bodies on boats to a hospital in Naudero. Sources said arms of the victims were tied with ropes and then thrown in the kutcha area.

The dead were identified as Basheer Jamro, a police constable posted at Naushehro Feroz police station, Sobho Mirbahar and Ghulam Mohammad Mirbahar.

Due to a dispute between Khairpur and Larkana police about jurisdiction, the bodies remained in hospital for five hours.

According to revenue record, the area is in Larkana district. But former Sindh police chief Rana Maqbool had transferred jurisdiction of the left bank of Indus, opposite Larkana district, to Khairpur district.

Abbas Shar, an SHO, told reporters that Basheer Jamro, the murdered constable, had recently killed three bandits in Naushehro Feroz.

According to a police official, the bodies had been handed over to Khairpur police.

Meenhal Jamro, brother of the slain policeman, had lost contact with his brother on mobile phone two days ago. “We have no enmity with anyone,” he said.
