Misery of Gwadar fishermen

THE Baloch living around the Gwadar Port get their daily income by fishing in the sea. But the presence of huge trawlers catching fish in the sea in large quantities has greatly reduced the number of fish for fishermen.

The trawlers catch hundreds of tons of fish in a day and later transfer them to big markets of the country. They have not only snatched fishermen’s source of income but have also caused great damage to marine life. The local fishermen with small boats are forced to quit fishing and go in search of work to get two square meals a day. The local and provincial governments should look into the matter.
