Jirga settles murder dispute

SUKKUR, Feb 16: A jirga held to settle murder of a woman, Mst Bashiran, has slapped a fine of Rs250,000 on the murderer.

Accused Sardaro Pitafi will also hand over two of his daughters--Anila, 7, and Jamila, 5, to Akbar Pitafi, husband of Bashiran in 'sang chatti'.

The jirga, chaired by Wadera Sono Khan Karmani, was held in the jurisdiction of Khanpur Mahar police station, Ghotki, on Thursday announced that the fine would be paid in two installments. Bashiran was shot dead by Sardaro in the village of Ghanwar Pitafi four months ago.

Both parties accepted the decision of the jirga.- BoC
