Robbers injure two brothers, loot Rs7 million prize bonds

LAHORE, Feb 14: Robbers injured two brothers and looted prize bonds worth Rs7 million from them near the PTCL building in Old Anarkali police limits on Tuesday.

Police said Munir and Naseem, who dealt in crockery business in Garhi Shahu bazaar, were returning home on a bike after buying prize bonds from the State Bank when two motorcyclists tried to snatch bonds from them at gunpoint. As the brothers put up resistance, the suspects opened fire on them and fled with the booty.

The injured were taken to Mayo Hospital where Naseem was stated to be in a critical condition.

Four robbers barged in the house of Ghulam Abbas in Gulshan Iqbal police limits and took away cash and valuables worth Rs800,000.

Armed men looted booty worth Rs700,000 from the house of Saleem and cash and valuables worth Rs500,000 from the house of Rasheed Khan in Johar Town police limits.

Two gun-toting men approached Allauddin in Samanabad police limits and looted Rs400,000 in cash and a cell phone from him.

MURDERED: A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his father-in-law and brother-in-law in Bambay Juggian locality of Shadbagh on Tuesday.

The police said Zaheer Ahmad, a rickshaw driver, was attacked by Ghulam Abbas and Shaukat following a quarrel. The incident happened shortly after the wife of Zaheer reached her parents’ home after quarrelling with her husband.

The police later arrested victim’s father-in-law Ghulam Abbas and registered a case.

SHOT DEAD: A young woman was shot dead by unidentified people at her doorstep in Suay Suleman locality of Kahna early on Tuesday.

The police said Shaban Asghar, a mother of six, was shot by suspects apparently after she responded to a door bell.

Her husband, Muhammad Asghar, was at home at the time of the incident.

The police handed over the body to the family after autopsy and registered a murder case against unidentified person(s).
