‘Bandits’ kill man

KARACHI, Jan 26: A man was shot dead during a robbery in his house within the remit of the Surjani Town police station on Thursday, police said.

They said that at least three suspected bandits entered the house of Mohsin Feroz, 35, in Sector 4-D of Surjani Town in the early hours of Thursday and held the inmates hostage at gunpoint.

While the bandits were collecting valuables, Mr Feroz tried to put up resistance upon which the bandits opened fire killing him on the spot, the police said, adding that the bandits fled afterwards. They took away jewellery, three mobile phones and other valuable from the house, they said.

The victim’s body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his family.

SHO Shabbir Hussain said the victim was a salesman associated with a bottled water company.  No FIR was registered till latein the evening.

Man shot dead

A man was shot dead near a supermarket on the Superhighway within the remit of the Sohrab Goth police station on Thursday.

The police said that the victim, Mohammad Nawaz Barki, 65, a resident of Deluxe Town, was standing near the supermarket when armed men riding a motorcycle came and fired some shots at him. The man was hit by eight bullets and died on the spot, they added.

SHO Ghaffar Jumani said the victim, who hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkwa, was waiting for someone when he was targeted apparently over some personal enmity.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
