Tableeghi Jamaat man shot dead

KARACHI, Jan 25: A member of the Tableeghi Jamaat was gunned down in an Orangi Town locality on Wednesday, police said.They said that the killing occurred in Orangi Town’s Sector 11½ within the remit of the Pakistan Bazaar police station.

They said that assailants riding a motorbike intercepted 45-year-old Mehtab Khan when he came out of Hashmi Masjid after offering Zuhar prayers, fired at him and fled.

The victim was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police said that the victim sustained six bullet wounds.

Area DSP Tariq Malik said that the victim was among the organisers of a religious congregation held annually in Orangi Town.

He said that the victim belonged to the Tableeghi Jamaat. He was the father of six children.
