Boy found dead

ISLAMABAD, Jan 24: A teenage boy was found dead from a nullah in capital on Tuesday, police said.

Some passersby spotted the body in the nullah at G-7/2 and informed the police which reached the spot and shifted the body to hospital for pending identification and legal process.

The people of the area told police that the boy appeared in the area some four days back and started wandering around. The police said that no wound mark was found on the body. However, autopsy would be conducted to ascertain the cause of death. — Staff Reporter

Two die on road

CHAKWAL, Jan 24: Two persons were killed while another sustained injuries in a road accident on Tuesday. The police said that Amir Sultan Butt, Kamran Shah and Muntazir Mehdi were coming to Chakwal in a car from Rawalpindi. When they reached near Daultala Mor, their car collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. Resultantly, Amir Sultan and Kamran Shah died on the spot while Muntazir Mehdi was injured. Police registered a case and started efforts to trace the driver of the truck who managed to escape from the scene. — Correspondent

Stone driller killed

TAXILA, Jan 24: A man was killed when he was hit by heavy rocks while drilling at stone crushing site in Pathargarh area in the limits of Hassanabdal police station on Tuesday.

Police and hospital sources said that Mohammad Shahfeeq, 36, a driller at a local stone crushing industry, was drilling at a hill when heavy rocks fell over him.

He was rushed to the hospital but he died on the way. Police and hospital sources attributed the accident to the lack of safety measures at the stone crushing industry. —Correspondent

Three houses looted

TAXILA, Jan 24: Three houses were looted in the limits of Hassanabdal police stations on Tuesday.

In the first incident, robbers took away five tola gold ornaments and cash from the house of Riasat Khan. While, in the other incident, thieves broke the locks of the house of Mohammad Khalid and whisked away with six tola gold ornaments, cell phones and cash. Such as, the house of Mohammad Taj was also burgled as the dacoits made off with cash, 10 tola gold ornaments and other valuables.

Police registered three separate cases and started investigation. — Correspondent

Membership drive

TAXILA, Jan 24: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) will launch a membership drive in the rural areas of the city from next week.

Addressing a press conference here, members of the party’s central executive committee Khawaja Mohammad Imtiaz advocate, Mansoor Ahmed Siddiqui and others said membership camps would be set up at the union council level while activists would go door-to-door to motivate the people to join the party.

They said central leaders of the party would address the new entrants at the end of the campaign. — Correspondent
