Missing teenager found shot dead

KARACHI, Jan 16: The trussed-up body of a teenage boy, who had been missing since Saturday, was found in a Mawach Goth locality, police said on Monday.

They said that the body was found at a desolate place in Baloch Para within the remit of the Mauripur police station late on Sunday night.

With hands and legs tied up, the body bore gunshot wounds. The victim was shot in the head.

Initially the body wasunidentified, but later it was identified as that of Shahzaib Baloch, 17, a resident of Ali Muhammad Mohallah in Baghdadi.

The police said that the teenager, who was a class IX student, had been missing since January 14. He left his house to see someone, but didn't return. His family had lodged a disappearance report at the Kalri police station.

They said that the killing might have been related tothe Lyari gang warfare.

The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

Till late in the night, no FIR regarding the killing was lodged, a duty officer at the Mauripur police station said.

He said that it was not clear whether the FIR would be lodged at the Mauripur police station in whose remit the body wasfound or at the Kalri police station where the disappearance was reported.
