RAWALPINDI, Jan 15: A nine-year-old Afghan girl carrying 50 bullets and a young Afghan man were arrested by the security staff deployed at the main procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (AS) Chehlum in Kashmiri Bazaar on Sunday, police said.

Haleema, and her neighbour, 25-year-old Gul Mohammad, were spotted acting suspiciously by the police and civil defence staff as they were reviewing the security arrangements.

The girl was taken into custody and during search seized 50 live bullets of 30-bore pistol. Later the man accompanying her was also arrested and shifted to the police station for investigation.

SP Malik Matloob, when contacted, said the man who was carrying an Afghan refugee card and Rs10 in his pocket revealed that he was going to Chakwal to hand over the  girl to her parents and did not know anything about the bullets.
