Jirga settles murder dispute

DADU, Jan 15: A jirga was held on Sunday to resolve a murder dispute between Mallah and Laghari tribesmen on Sunday.

An employee of Taluka municipal office, Shaman, son of Mohammad Rajab Mallah, was shot dead allegedly by a clerk of the same office, Mohammad Hanif Leghari.

The killing led to clashes between the rival tribesmen.

The jirga was held under supervision of Syed Bachal Shah Lakiari at Syed House of Markhpur Mohalla. The Jirga decreed that Shaman Mallah had been killed by Hanif Leghari.

It imposed Rs3.3 million fine on Hanif to be paid to the father of Shaman in three half-yearly instalments.—Correspondent
