Lawyers’ role in dispensation of justice lauded

MANSEHRA, Jan 12: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Masood Kausar has said that the judiciary, legislative and executive should respect each other so that the country could cope with the current challenges.

'Until the judiciary, legislative and executive give due respect to each other, the country will suffer, as in past dictators weakened the judiciary and parliament,' said Mr Kausar while speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of Mansehra district bar association here the other day. DBA president Shahjahan Khan Swati also spoke on the occasion.

The governor said that the lawyers played a significant role in dispensation of justice not only in the courtrooms, but also in the society. He said that in this perspective the lawyers should be conscious of their responsibilities towards balanced nourishment of the society and promotion of justicebased norms. He said that justice meant acceptance of rights of others and therefore, the role of lawyers in promotion of sense of responsibility was of crucial importance.

The ceremony was also attended by provincial food minister Shuja Salim Khan, DCO Amber Ali, DPO Ijaz Ahmad, former and sitting parliamentarians and lawyers and office-bearers of Abbottabad, Haripur and Oghi bar associations. — Correspondent
