Three bandits killed in encounter, claim police

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 9: Three bandits died in an apparently managed encounter with police ear Kandiaro on Monday, sources said.

No policeman received injuries in the encounter in which five hardened criminals took part. Three of them died while two of their accomplices escaped.

According to Saeed Ahmed Shaikh, the DSP of Kandiaro taluka, no policeman received injuries.

Briefing reporters, SHO of Kandiaro Amiruddin Pathan said that a group of bandits tried to stop a truck but the driver refused.

Meanwhile, a police patrol reached at the site and immediately informed the Kandiaro police station.

A police party, led by DSP of taluka Kandiaro and the SHO, immediately reached there and challenged the bandits. An encounter took place between police and dacoits, he said.

Mr Pathan said three bandits died and twoothers escaped. Their bodies were taken to Kandiaro taluka hospital for post-mortem.

They were identified as Abdullah, Asghar Ali Jhangri and Abdul Aziz Gopang of Khairpur and Larkana respectively, he added.

He further said that two Kalashnikovs and one TT pistol were recovered from their possession.

Abdullah, according to him, carried a head money of Rs1 million and was wanted in several cases lodged against him in Khairpur.

The DSP, however, added, that bandit Asghar was wanted in 12 criminal cases registered against him in district Khairpur, while details of cases against Abdul Aziz were being collected.

Abdul Aziz Gopang, he said, was a hardened criminal and his brother Latif was also wanted by the Larkana police.

Bodies of Abdullah and Asghar were received by their mothers while sister of Abdul Aziz identified her brother and claimed his body.
