Two women murdered by sons-in-law

LAHORE, Jan 3: Two women were murdered allegedly by their sons-in-law following domestic disputes in separate incidents on Tuesday, police said.

Manga Mandi police said 35-year-old Meeran Bibi was gunned down by her son-in-law, Mazhar, of Kasuwal in Wara Kumhayranwala near Raiwind Road.

Mazhar had come to his in-laws’ house to reconcile with his wife where he exchanged words with his mother-in-law, Meeran.

He fired a single shot at Meeran and tried to escape, but he was captured by locals and handed over to the police.

Meeran was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.Kahna police said 45-year-old Razia Bano was shot dead byher son-in-law, Liaqat, in Suay Asal.

The motive for the shooting was a money dispute as Razia was pressing Liaqat to return her Rs200,000. The suspect fled the scene.

Police shifted the bodies for autopsy and registered cases.

INJURED: A four-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man suffered burns when a fire broke out in a house during loadshedding on Shahbaz Road in Bhagatpura, Shadbagh.

Rescue 1122 shifted the victims to Mayo Hospital and controlled the fire.

The fire erupted in a room of Imran’s house after a burning candle fell on the carpet. Imran’s son Rehman caught with flames. His uncle, Jamshaid, also suffered burns when he came to rescue his nephew.
