Arguments in Sapna case today

LAHORE, Jan 2: The Lahore High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing of a petition against the order of an additional district and sessions judge wherein a notice was issued to police on a plea of former chief minister Dost Muhammad Khosa seeking recovery of his former wife, Sapna Khan.Missal Khan, father of Sapna, filed this petition stating that Khosa could not seek the recovery of his former wife. His counsel prayed to the court to set aside the order of the AD&SJ being unlawful.

Justice Sheikh Ahmad Farooq adjourned the hearing for Tuesday (today) and asked the counsels to come with arguments.

Meanwhile, Missal Khan filed another writ petition in the court praying to summon Khosa and direct him to file an affidavit with regard to information he had about the kidnapping and possible murder of Sapna Khan.

LBA polls: The executive committee of the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) has set aside a decision of the Lahore Bar Association (LBA) election board chairman wherein a bar member, Nasreen Ijaz, was barred from contesting the association’s annual elections for 2012.

The LBA election board had on Dec 26 rejected nomination papers of Ms Ijaz on the ground that she did not have requisite experience to contest the elections scheduled for Jan 14.

Ms Ijaz challenged the decision before PbBC’s executive committee, stating that she was enrolled as an advocate on Jan 1, 2005, and before the polling day, her standing would be 12 days more than the experience required under the rules to contest the elections.

The PbBC executive committee set aside the order of the LBA election board chairman and directed him to appear on Jan 6 along with record.
